Liz Barry

Director of urban environment at Public Laboratory for Open Technology and Science and co-founder of TreeKIT, Liz Barry develops civic science tools and methods for collaborative cities. She has degrees in landscape architecture and urban design, and teaches at Columbia University, Parsons the New School for Design, and Pratt Institute. She has worked at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill on Wall Street planning international new eco-cities and campuses, in North Carolina coordinating an urban agriculture enterprise named “DIG”, and traveled around the country catalyzing public interaction with a sign that read “Talk To Me” – a project that received international press including the New York Times, CNN, Oprah and NPR’s This American Life. With the co-founders of Public Laboratory, she is a 2011 Knight News Challenge Winner. She likes to play outside.
